Eastside Elementary School wants to work with our parents to create success for our students. School starts at 7:35 AM in the morning. If your children are not in their classrooms by 7:35 AM, they will be marked tardy. If they are going to eat breakfast, they should arrive before 7:30 AM, so they have enough time to eat and be in their rooms by 7:35 AM. Showing up on time to school benefits students’ academic performances and future professional habits.
The parents of a child who has 5 unexcused absences, 5 unexcused tardies or 5 unexcused check outs will be required to meet with Eastside’s Attendance Review Committee. For the purpose of perfect attendance, the Whitfield County Board of Education has determined that a combination of 5 unexcused tardies or check-outs will equal one unexcused absence. This will count against perfect attendance; therefore, the student will not participate in perfect attendance activities. Parent notes may be accepted for up to 10 absences in a single school year. Parents have up to 5 days to turn in these excuses. After 10 absences, parents will be required to provide written medical excuses or documentation.
